About Us - 20 Years of Experience

Asian Forging Art Meets European Innovation

The company's roots extend to Asia, where first-class cutting tools have been produced for centuries, such as samurai swords and high-quality kitchen knives. The forging technology developed there and the practice-oriented design specifications were incorporated into our products and are continuously adapted to the requirements of the European market to achieve optimal user-friendliness and aesthetic appeal. In addition to Asian influences, particularly in hunting and outdoor knives, innovative and practice-oriented ideas are taken up through close contact with users and knife makers and implemented in our models.

Traditional knife craftsmanship for generations – with a modern interpretation

Ed Mahony was founded only in 2005, but the knife gene has been present in the family for several generations. Initially, Ed Mahony focused on importing and marketing inexpensive hunting and leisure knives. The product range was later expanded to include high-quality kitchen knives made from Japanese steel.

To round off the product range at the top end, well-known knifemakers such as Robert Fehringer, Stefan Steigerwald (DMG member), Jürgen Rosinski, and Ernst Siebeneicher-Hellwig – the latter three are specialist book authors for Wieland Verlag – were enlisted to design collector's knives, high-end utility knives, and a series of kitchen knives.

The designer knives are predominantly handcrafted in selected workshops and are subject to strict quality assurance by the respective knifemaker before delivery to the customer, thereby guaranteeing the highest quality standards.

First-class high-performance steels such as VG-10, CPMV90, C70, or even AUS-10 are used for the designer knives. For the kitchen knives, Damascus steel with a VG-10 cutting layer is used. The handles are made from G10, carbon fiber, and various hardwoods.

From Utility Knife to Outdoor Brand

The family's roots date back to the beginning of the 20th century. Well into the 90s of the last century, the focus was on the production of utility knives for agriculture and households. With the founding of a company specializing in hunting and outdoor supplies in 2005, the focus shifted to import, and from 2012, to the production of our own hunting and outdoor knives.
