Concept
Dear Ed Mahony Friend,
In 2016, you voted the 1st generation Ebony Folder as Knife of the Year - the 2nd generation included a backlock version and a middle-size version, as some of you found the original model too large.
In 2017, we then launched a 2nd series, but only for a short time, as the springs cooled down too quickly during the hardening process, and often broke when opened. In addition, the 2nd generation had some cosmetic flaws in terms of workmanship, which in total were unacceptable.
We, Ernst Siebeneicher-Hellwig, Arthur Brehm, Queenie Lee, and myself, then decided to completely redevelop the Ebony Folder. Each individual component was separately developed and adapted to the frame (the housing) in such a way that the knife can be opened and closed smoothly. So far, the knife has only been offered occasionally at trade fairs. The response was so overwhelming that we decided to offer this knife to all our customers and friends for the Knife of the Year selection.
The 3rd generation Ebony Folder is not a facelift of the 1st generation, but a quantum leap in quality - the result is the best knife Ed Mahony has ever produced.
The new Ebony Folder comes with a wide lanyard hole, a generously sized nail nick, which allows for easy opening of the knife. Furthermore, it can be carried according to the current weapons law.
In short, the 3rd generation Ebony Folder reflects our love for detail and our passion for fine gentlemen's pocket knives.

Care
- Cleaning: After use, you should clean the knife under running water with a mild soap. Avoid washing the knife in the dishwasher, as this can lead to damage.
- Drying: Dry the knife thoroughly immediately after washing to prevent rust formation. It is best to use a soft cloth for this.
- Storage: Store the knife in a dry place where it cannot come into contact with other metal objects. A knife roll or a knife block are ideal storage options.
- Sharpening: Sharpen the knife regularly with a suitable whetstone or sharpener. A sharp knife cuts better and is safer to use.
- Cutting Surface: Use a suitable cutting surface made of wood or plastic for cutting. Avoid cutting on hard surfaces such as stone or metal, as this can damage the blade.
